Growing interest among Kuwaitis in visiting China
The Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait, Yang Xin, affirmed that Kuwait-China relations have witnessed fruitful cooperation across various fields over the past 55 years, underpinned by both countries’ commitment to the principles of mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit. He expressed his country’s aspiration to broaden the horizons of cooperation with Kuwait, including in the cultural sphere.
This statement was made during an event organized by the Chinese Cultural Center in Kuwait, in collaboration with the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, on the evening of yesterday. Titled “Two Flavors on One Table: Tasting Chinese and Kuwaiti Tea and Sweets,” the event was part of the 18th Kuwait Cultural Summer Festival. The initiative aimed to introduce tea traditions in China and the Arab region, and to enhance cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Ambassador Yang noted that cultural exchange between China and Kuwait serves as a bridge connecting the peoples of both nations, contributing to strengthened communication and understanding. He highlighted the growing interest among Kuwaitis in visiting China, pointing out that the number of Kuwaitis who visited his country last year, following the implementation of the visa exemption policy, doubled compared to the period preceding its introduction.
He clarified that regional security conditions have led to instability in air traffic movements in the current period, which has prevented the availability of updated figures for this year. Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that the number of Kuwaitis traveling to China will continue to rise, whether for tourism, business, shopping, or study.
For his part, Dr. Mohammed Al-Jassar, Secretary-General of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, emphasized the depth of the partnership between the Council and the Chinese Embassy, and the commitment of both sides to enhancing cultural exchange and fostering ties between the Kuwaiti and Chinese peoples.
