The United States has threatened Iran with what it described as the “greatest financial war ever,” as it prepares to impose economic sanctions on Monday targeting Iran’s commercial partners. Last week, Trump warned of economic consequences for any country that provides “any form of lifeblood to Iran,” as part of his campaign to isolate Tehran. Two Pakistani sources said the call held last week, which had not been previously disclosed, was initiated by Trump.
