According to CBS, four patients received potassium injections instead of their usual painkillers while undergoing joint replacement procedures, resulting in two patients becoming paralyzed and a third being transferred to intensive care. The attorney for one of the victims, 72-year-old Glenda Dorton, stated that she underwent a knee replacement surgery, adding that the procedure “went well,” but she is now paralyzed due to medical error. The lawyer described his client’s condition as unclear but serious, while the patient’s family confirmed that she remains under medical care and faces a long recovery period. For her part, the hospital acknowledged the incident, apologized to the patients, and confirmed that it had voluntarily reported the incident to government regulatory authorities.
