Accelerating Intervention in Cases of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse

The Administration of Protection Centers under the Supreme Council for Family Affairs held a coordination meeting with the Community Police Administration to discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation and develop security and social coordination mechanisms to protect victims of domestic violence and child abuse. The meeting discussed several vital proposals aimed at accelerating responses to protect victims of domestic violence and providing a secure environment for targeted cases. Emphasis was placed on several key areas, including emergency security accompaniment for special cases, assigning a liaison officer from the Community Police to coordinate immediately with the Protection Centers and expedite security intervention when needed, the importance of a security presence in shelters to raise safety levels, and swift handling of emergency reports on domestic violence and child abuse. Additionally, efforts were made to facilitate legal procedures by adopting a joint mechanism that clarifies the tasks and their integration between the two parties.

At the conclusion of the meeting, attendees stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and continuously developing its implementation mechanisms, affirming that the integration between the security role of the Community Police and the preventive and social role of the Protection Centers under the Supreme Council for Family Affairs constitutes a fundamental pillar for achieving family stability and protecting the most vulnerable groups to violence, in line with the directives of the Supreme Leadership and the instructions of Dr. Amal Al-Huwail, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs.

The meeting was attended by the Director of the Community Police Administration and his deputy, along with several senior officials from the administration, and on the part of the Administration of Protection Centers, its Director, the Head of the Reception and Follow-up Department, and several researchers from the administration.
