Interior Ministry: Four Indians arrested for damaging telecommunications towers in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area

The Ministry of Interior announced on Friday that the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations – Capital Governorate Criminal Investigations Department, has solved four cases of diesel theft and damage to telecommunications towers in the Jaber Al-Ahmad area, which had been registered against unknown perpetrators, and arrested four Indian nationals in the act. In a statement, the Ministry said the arrests followed intensified investigative efforts, the use of modern technological means, and monitoring of telecommunications towers. It emerged that the suspects were employed by a company contracted to maintain the towers, and they exploited their work duties to siphon off double the required amount of diesel, using part of it to compensate for shortages in other towers, while appropriating the remainder for sale. The Ministry added that upon confrontation, the suspects confessed to committing these offenses over a two-year period at various locations. Investigations also revealed their involvement in similar incidents across different governorates. Inventory and investigative work are ongoing, paving the way for their referral to the competent authorities to take the necessary legal action against them. The Ministry reaffirmed its continued efforts to pursue perpetrators of theft and protect vital facilities and infrastructure, and to deal firmly with anyone who attempts to tamper with them or harm the country’s interests.
