US Treasury Secretary: We Will Overthrow the Iranian Regime with Historic Sanctions

The United States has escalated its rhetoric toward Iran, affirming its resolve to topple the regime through historic sanctions and to implement a broad economic isolation policy against Tehran. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said these measures would constitute “the greatest coordinated economic isolation in world history,” adding that the economic war Washington intends to wage against Iran aims to push the Iranian regime toward collapse. Bessent clarified that Washington had informed its allies that they must choose between supporting its efforts to economically isolate Iran or standing in the opposing camp. In an interview with CNBC, Bessent added, “You’re either with us or against us,” urging China to “align with the plan” and noting that some discussions with Beijing are better conducted away from the public eye. He affirmed that the administration of President Donald Trump is pursuing a strategy centered on tightening economic sanctions to increase pressure on Tehran.
