U.S. President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social account that he was launching an economic war and imposing unprecedented isolation against Iran. Trump stated, “Today I announce the strongest economic operation ever launched against any country! This will be an economic war and isolation on an unprecedented scale. Their naval fleet has been destroyed, their air force neutralized, their military factories reduced to rubble, their currency is worthless, and their country is on the brink of collapse.” He added, “I also announce today that any country whose financial institutions, companies, airports, or government agencies provide any form of support to Iran will face severe economic consequences. Oil smuggling, barter lines, money transfers, exchange offices, ship registries, and shell companies—this all must stop now.” He continued, “You know yourselves. This will be a decisive economic day, and we need all our allies to stand with the United States of America to isolate and defeat the Iranian threat. These extremists are on the verge of collapse, and these historic measures will paralyze them and eliminate their ability to spread terror around the world. Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon.”
