Trump: Negotiating with Iran is a waste of time; only an empty shell remains

U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States is not currently negotiating with Iran, considering talks with Tehran “a waste of time.” Trump added that the naval blockade on Iran is effective, noting that “the Iranians still have some capacity to fight, but overall, all that remains of them is an empty shell.” The U.S. president pointed to the massive volumes of oil flowing through the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that the strait “will not be as important as it was in the past.” In a separate remark, Trump expressed dissatisfaction that South Korea has not offered assistance regarding the Strait of Hormuz, while affirming at the same time that he has a good relationship with the North Korean leader.
