Kuwaiti companies listed on the stock exchange report 1.3 billion dinars in profits in the first half

Despite the geopolitical events witnessed in the region, the majority of companies listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange managed to maintain profitability, while key sectors succeeded in boosting their results and pushing the total aggregate to levels higher than last year.

Results disclosed for 131 listed companies, with fiscal years ending on December 31, showed that net profits reached approximately 1.36 billion dinars during the first half of this year, compared to around 1.26 billion dinars in the same period of 2025. This represents an annual increase of 97.85 million dinars, or a growth rate of 7.94%.

This increase gains particular significance given the circumstances surrounding corporate performance during the period. The escalation of geopolitical tensions did not negatively impact overall results to the extent of causing profits to decline; rather, the final aggregate was higher than the level recorded a year ago. This positive outcome reflects the ability of broad segments of the market to cope with changes. Six sectors increased their profits on an annual basis, while four sectors recorded a decline in profits, and three sectors ended with losses.

The improvement was not limited to a single sector, extending to telecommunications, real estate, consumer goods, energy, insurance, and banking. This provided diversified support to the total aggregate and kept profits on an upward trajectory. The telecommunications sector recorded the highest growth rate among profitable sectors, with its profits rising by 40.47% annually to reach approximately 261.33 million dinars. The real estate sector also achieved profit growth of 25.44%, while consumer goods, energy, and insurance sectors saw increases of 22.82%, 15.80%, and 12.08%, respectively. Although the banking sector saw a rise of 4.58%, it had the greatest impact on the market’s final result due to the substantial profits achieved by banks.

Banks accounted for the largest share of corporate profits, with the sector’s profits reaching approximately 922.21 million dinars in the first half, representing 67.89% of total profits. The telecommunications sector ranked second with profits of 261.33 million dinars, holding a 19.24% share of total profits, followed by the financial services sector in third place with profits of approximately 152.33 million dinars.

The insurance sector recorded profits of 52.85 million dinars, and consumer services 44.89 million dinars, while the real estate sector’s profits amounted to 42.01 million dinars. The energy sector achieved approximately 17.34 million dinars, consumer goods 10.10 million dinars, utilities 6.68 million dinars, and basic materials 3.28 million dinars.

While banks represented the largest profit pool, telecommunications was the fastest-growing sector, recording an annual profit increase exceeding 40%. Meanwhile, results for real estate, consumer goods, energy, and insurance showed that the improvement was not confined to financial and telecommunications sectors, but extended to a broader range of activities.

Of the 106 profitable companies, results revealed significant disparities in profit sizes. The 106 companies achieved total profits of approximately 1.65 billion dinars. Of this amount, 1.64 billion dinars were generated by 76 companies that recorded million-dinar profits, while 30 companies earned less than one million dinars, totaling 11.49 million dinars. The figures showed that the top 10 most profitable companies captured approximately 1.17 billion dinars, equivalent to 86.20% of the net profits of the 131 companies included in the statistics. The list of the top 10 most profitable companies included seven banks, again reflecting the magnitude of the banking sector’s contribution to the market’s total profits.

On the other side, the picture was not entirely positive for all companies. Twenty-five companies recorded losses during the first six months, totaling approximately 288.48 million dinars. These companies were distributed between 11 firms that recorded million-dinar losses and 14 firms whose losses were below one million dinars. The impact of losses was also evident at the sector level. The industrial sector incurred losses of 144.30 million dinars, while the healthcare sector recorded losses of approximately 10.04 million dinars.
