Ronaldo: This may be my final year in football

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Al Nassr, a competitor in the Saudi Professional League, has fueled speculation about his retirement date after stating that next year will likely be the final chapter of his football career. The 41-year-old captain of the Portuguese national team is one of the most decorated players in football history, having won numerous major titles during his career with Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al Nassr. Despite his illustrious career, Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, was unable to add a World Cup title to his record, after Portugal was eliminated from this year’s tournament. In an interview with the American lifestyle magazine Vogue, Ronaldo said, “This may be my last season in football, and I want to leave behind an amazing legacy.” The Portuguese striker has scored 976 goals for clubs and his national team over a career spanning more than two decades. He added, “I have many things on my mind, to the point that it’s hard to mention just one, because football will leave a huge void, so I need to fill my time in different ways, not just one.” He continued, “I will enjoy life more, travel more, watch and play paddle tennis, which I truly love, and continue to enjoy what I have achieved and what we have all achieved, because, in the end, 25 years filled with sacrifices have passed.”
