The Feelings Have No Voice, But They Have Features

Not all emotions need words for us to understand them. There are people who tell you everything inside them without saying a word. Some sadness appears in facial expressions, in a distracted gaze, in unusual silence, or even in a brief reply after a conversation that was once full of life. Sometimes a person changes before our eyes gradually, but we do not notice, because we are accustomed to listening to words more than reading the details. The truth is that emotions do not always have a voice, but they have expressions that close hearts do not miss. Some say “I am fine” simply because they do not want to explain, or because they are tired of explaining, or because they do not want to be a burden to anyone. And there are those who smile out of respect for the place and the people, while inside them is crowded with what they cannot express. In contrast, there are people who possess a different human sensitivity; they notice subtle changes, ask without curiosity, and approach without insistence. These people do not just listen to words; they read what lies behind them. How many people needed a sincere question? And how many humans were waiting for someone to simply notice that they were no longer as they used to be? In work environments too, not all problems are related to performance or negligence. Sometimes an employee is psychologically exhausted, or burdened by a circumstance they do not know how to explain. Here lies the difference between a manager who sees only numbers, and another who sees the human being before the employee. Even in our daily relationships, we do not always need solutions as much as we need someone who empathizes with us. Some hearts find comfort simply because someone noticed their fatigue without them having to speak. What is truly painful is not that a person hides their emotions, but that their expressions scream them, and no one pays attention. Therefore, be more attentive to those around you. Notice those who changed suddenly, those who became quieter, those whose laughter disappeared, or those who often repeat “It’s fine” while everything inside them is not fine. A person may succeed in hiding their voice, but they often fail to hide their expressions. “Not all emotions are spoken; some emotions are seen.” M. Hussein Muhammad Artie
