Al-Asfour: Leveraging the Korean experience in technology fields

Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Azam Abdulmohsen Al-Asfour, emphasized the importance of leveraging Korea’s pioneering experience in advanced technologies and artificial intelligence, and transferring successful expertise and experiences to Kuwait, thereby supporting the digital transformation process and strengthening the knowledge-based economy. This came during a reception hosted by the Kuwaiti Embassy in the Republic of Korea yesterday (Tuesday) for a Kuwaiti delegation comprising 20 male and female students, as part of the STEAM initiative under the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), within the framework of an academic visit aimed at introducing students to the advanced developments witnessed by Korea in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and artificial intelligence.

Ambassador Al-Asfour noted that the Republic of Korea has achieved remarkable progress in modern technology sectors, stressing the importance of Kuwaiti students benefiting from this experience, particularly in fields related to artificial intelligence and future technologies. This would enhance the scientific and practical capabilities of the younger generation and prepare them to contribute to Kuwait’s development trajectory.

During the meeting, he outlined the advancements achieved by Korean universities in areas related to artificial intelligence technology, emphasizing the importance of strengthening academic cooperation between Kuwaiti and Korean universities. This would open avenues for exchanging expertise and knowledge and enhance opportunities for Kuwaiti students to benefit from advanced academic programs and specializations.

He pointed out that expanding academic cooperation between the two countries would contribute to preparing qualified national cadres capable of keeping pace with the rapid developments in the artificial intelligence and technology sectors, in addition to enhancing the prospects for Kuwait-Korea partnerships in scientific and technological fields.

He expressed his hope for an increase in the number of Kuwaiti students enrolling in Korean universities, particularly in specializations related to artificial intelligence technology, electronic engineering, and cybersecurity, given the growing importance of these fields in the labor market and the global economy in the future.

He affirmed that the Kuwaiti Embassy in Korea, along with all its staff, is committed to providing various forms of support and assistance to the Kuwaiti student delegation during their stay in the Republic of Korea, ensuring maximum benefit from the academic program and the experiences it entails.
