Kuwait condemns Colombia’s recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and rejection of the Colombian government’s recognition of the sovereignty of the Israeli occupation authorities over the occupied Syrian Golan. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s rejection of this step, which contravenes international law and resolutions of international legitimacy, particularly United Nations Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which deemed the occupation authority’s imposition of its laws and administration over the occupied Syrian Golan null and void and without any legal effect.

The Ministry reiterated the State of Kuwait’s firm position that the Syrian Golan is occupied Syrian Arab land, and its rejection of any decisions aimed at entrenching the occupation or conferring legitimacy upon it, emphasizing the principle that the acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible under the United Nations Charter and the principles of international law.

The Ministry affirmed the State of Kuwait’s support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of the sister Syrian Arab Republic, and renewed its call on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to assume its responsibilities in ensuring respect for international law and the UN Charter, and to compel the Israeli occupation forces to withdraw from all occupied Arab territories.
