Interior Ministry: Two individuals arrested for plotting to target a place of worship

The Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday the arrest of two State Security Agency employees for maintaining contact with members of the ISIS terrorist organization and receiving training in the manufacture of explosives with the intent of targeting a place of worship belonging to one of the country’s sects. In a statement, the Ministry said the arrest was carried out as part of ongoing surveillance, investigation, and security monitoring, and that the necessary legal measures were taken against them, referring them to the competent authorities to complete the required procedures in accordance with the law. The Ministry reaffirmed its continued efforts to monitor and track any activities that could undermine the security and safety of society, and to deal with any practices contrary to the law in accordance with established legal procedures, in order to safeguard the country’s security and the safety of its citizens. The Ministry emphasized the importance for parents to monitor their children, raise awareness about the dangers of engaging in any ideas, behaviors, or actions criminalized by law, and oversee their use of social media, while strengthening family supervision and guidance and instilling values of loyalty, national belonging, and respect for the law, thereby contributing to their protection and enhancing their awareness and sense of responsibility toward the nation.
