Pakistan: US and Iran close to reaching an agreement and lasting peace

Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said on Tuesday that the United States and Iran are nearing “some kind of agreement” that could pave the way for establishing lasting peace between the two sides. In remarks to Bloomberg, he added that “indications over the past few days suggest we are approaching a peace agreement,” pointing to progress in efforts to de-escalate tensions between Washington and Tehran. These comments come amid intensive diplomatic moves aimed at reducing escalation and opening the path to broader understandings on outstanding issues between the United States and Iran.
