This move aims to secure border areas and open crossings after militias affiliated with Iran shelled Kuwait’s border areas and crossings. This initiative contributes to joint efforts to quell the fitna (discord) instigated by Iran, its proxies, and those seeking instability in the region. May these efforts be blessed, and we pray for Kuwait’s security, safety, and stability.
Routes for oil exports bypassing Hormuz: The Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Siyasa reported a statement by Kuwaiti Minister of Oil Tariq Al-Roumi, published by the Anadolu Agency, that Kuwait is holding talks with Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries to establish a new pipeline for exporting crude oil that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz. One of the proposed routes would connect Kuwait to the Red Sea, while the second would link to the port of Fujairah. Undoubtedly, Kuwait’s move toward multiple routes for oil exports has been necessary for many decades, and we hope it will be crowned with success. Furthermore, it would be even more commendable if this move were accompanied by another track focused on commercial and economic land transport and passenger travel, so that Gulf states become connected through a single, fruitful economic pathway benefiting all Arab Gulf countries.
Advisory Councils: The editorial of the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai, titled “And their affair is among them a matter of consultation,” has sparked extensive discussion and speculation. The topic has been debated in majlis (gathering places) and on social media platforms, with both supporters and opponents of the proposed idea. Fundamentally, establishing specialized advisory councils in various fields is a natural and acceptable practice. Kuwait has previously done so, notably through the “Supreme Council for Planning and Development.” However, to strengthen this idea, it is first necessary to evaluate past experiences with advisory councils, study their effectiveness based on their operational mechanisms, and assess the state’s benefit from them. Second, and most importantly, such advisory councils must be established in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.
Risks of Cyberspace: I was greatly pleased by the statement from the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, affirming that the ministry is preparing a comprehensive plan to protect children from the risks of cyberspace. This plan includes systems, legislation, and programs to achieve psychological, social, and mental security for children and minors. This move represents a positive step and complements the practical and effective actions taken by several Gulf countries and nations worldwide in this direction. May these efforts be blessed.
