The peak of summer heat enters its final phase starting the day after tomorrow

The Al-Ajiri Scientific Center announced that summer is entering its final phase with the onset of the “Al-Kaleebin” season, beginning on Tuesday, August 11, which marks the last period of peak heat intensification before a gradual transition toward milder weather and the start of the “Suhayl” season. In a press statement, the center explained that the “Al-Kaleebin” season lasts for 13 days and represents an interval between the peak of summer heat and the first appearance of the star Suhayl, which is associated with the beginning of gradual improvements in weather conditions. It noted that the start of the season is characterized by rising temperatures and intense heat, accompanied by increased humidity levels, while the movement of southern and southeast winds influences the nature of the weather during this period. The center added that winds known as “Samum” begin to subside during the Al-Kaleebin season, and the ground gradually starts to cool. As the season nears its end, temperatures drop and the weather begins to trend toward milder conditions. It clarified that the name “Al-Kaleebin” refers to two stars located within the constellation of Canis Major, known to astronomers. This period also witnesses a gradual increase in the length of the night at the expense of the day. The onset of the “Al-Kaleebin” season on August 11, 2026, falls within the astronomical calculations and inherited seasonal cycles of the Gulf region, serving as an indicator that the hottest period of summer is approaching its end, with a gradual shift toward more moderate weather.
