Housing Authority: Electronic Update of Rented Housing Applications via “Sahel”

Faisal Matar: The Women’s Housing Affairs Committee announced the activation of an electronic service for updating rental housing applications via the government’s “Sahel” app, in accordance with Cabinet directives on digital transformation and to facilitate the application update procedures. The Committee clarified that notifications will be sent through the “Sahel” app to female citizens registered with the Public Authority for Housing Welfare who have active applications for rental housing. These notifications will include a link to access the application update service and upload the required documents.

The Committee urged all recipients of the update notification to proactively update their information and submit the required documents within 90 days from the date of announcement. It emphasized that applications not updated within the specified period will be canceled, effective October 16, 2026.

The Committee specified the documents required to complete the update process, which include: a copy of the civil ID of the applicant; a copy of the birth certificate; a copy of the marriage certificate for married women, a divorce certificate for divorced women, or a death certificate of the husband for widows; and academic certificates for children covering the last two academic years. Additionally, the required documents include a travel movement certificate from the General Administration of Passports covering the years 2024, 2025, and 2026; a certificate from the Real Estate Registration Department confirming that neither the applicant nor her husband owns any real estate; and a certificate from the Commercial Registry Department.

If any family member has a severe or moderate disability, a recent certificate from the Public Authority for Persons with Disabilities must be submitted, along with a salary certificate. In case of unemployment, a certificate from the Public Authority for Social Insurance and a certificate from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor are required.

The Committee noted that if a female citizen with an active rental housing application does not receive the update notification via the “Sahel” app, she may visit the Public Authority for Housing Welfare to update her application data and complete the required procedures. It confirmed that those who have already updated their information via the “Sahel” app are not required to repeat the process.
