U.S. President Donald Trump stated that his current approach toward Iran is based on calmness and de-escalation. Trump added in an interview with Axios on Sunday that “Iran is in a dire economic situation and lacks the money to pay its soldiers’ salaries.” He clarified, “We are only partially negotiating and merely observing Iran, amid its rampant inflation and the reality that it has no funds.” He continued, “The naval blockade has exacerbated the economic crisis facing the Iranian regime,” adding, “Matters with Tehran will be resolved as they always are; it’s like a game of chess.”
