Minister of Health inaugurates the Jaber Al-Ahmad Dialysis Center in Ahmadi Health
Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi inaugurated today, Sunday, the Jaber Al-Ahmad Kidney Dialysis Center in the Ahmadi Health District, funded by a donation from the heirs of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God have mercy on him. This marks the second such donation, following the establishment of a kidney dialysis center in the Al-Jahra Governorate.
In his opening speech, Minister Al-Awadi stated that the center is part of a comprehensive vision to develop health services, based on proactive planning, increasing capacity, bringing services closer to citizens, and keeping pace with population growth and urban expansion witnessed across various parts of the country, particularly in new cities and residential areas. He added that the Ministry of Health has been keen on the calculated expansion of kidney dialysis services in the Ahmadi Health District, linking independent dialysis units to Adan Hospital to ensure integrated service delivery and enhance the efficiency of follow-up and specialized care.
He clarified that this center constitutes the fifth site for kidney dialysis services in the Ahmadi Health District, alongside the Mohammed Al-Khuzam Center, the dialysis unit at Ali Al-Salim Al-Salem Center, the dialysis unit at Sabah Al-Ahmad Center, as well as the dialysis unit at the new Mother and Child Hospital. He noted that the center represents a qualitative leap in capacity and the integration of services provided to kidney patients in the region. It is expected that, when operating at full capacity, the center will accommodate approximately 500 hemodialysis patients and 100 peritoneal dialysis patients, making it the largest specialized kidney dialysis center in the Ahmadi Health District.
Minister Al-Awadi pointed out that the number of beneficiaries of kidney dialysis services in the Ahmadi Health District stands at approximately 519 patients, including 449 hemodialysis patients. These figures underscore the importance of continuing to develop capacity and planning services according to health and demographic needs.
For his part, Ahmadi Governor Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, in his speech, said the center represents a qualitative addition to the healthcare system in the State of Kuwait and an important step toward enhancing health services and meeting the needs of kidney patients by providing a comprehensive therapeutic environment meeting the highest standards. Sheikh Hamoud Al-Jaber added that the center is the largest in the Ahmadi Governorate, containing 83 dialysis units equipped with the latest medical devices and technologies, representing a significant addition that strengthens the healthcare system’s ability to deliver the best levels of care, in line with the state’s directions to develop the healthcare system and elevate the quality of medical services provided to citizens and residents.
On his behalf, the donor’s representative—Heirs of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God have mercy on him—Sheikh Fahad Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, said in his speech that patient care stems from religious conviction and a humanitarian duty to alleviate their suffering and instill hope in their lives. He added that the Kuwaiti people are naturally inclined toward goodness and giving for the benefit of society, recalling the noble deeds of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God have mercy on him, who fostered a love for goodness and strengthened community and humanitarian cooperation.
The center is built on a plot of land measuring 2,650 square meters, with a total built-up area of 10,250 square meters. It comprises a basement, a ground floor, and three upper floors, designed to integrate therapeutic, diagnostic, nursing, administrative, and support services. The center includes 83 kidney dialysis units, including 11 isolation rooms, four peritoneal dialysis rooms, a biochemistry laboratory, blood sampling rooms, treatment and emergency rooms, patient examination and preparation areas, as well as a central pharmacy, nutrition clinics, social services, administrative facilities, and support services.
Attending the inauguration ceremony were Sheikh Mubarak Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Head of the Diwan of His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Sulaiman Khalifa Al-Sabah, and the sons and daughters of the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God have mercy on him.
