US Treasury Secretary: We may see an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz today or tomorrow

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz could be reached today or tomorrow. Bessent said, “We may see an agreement today or tomorrow that opens the Strait of Hormuz for 30 to 60 days, at which point energy prices will decline.” He added, “We are economically strangling Iran, and they are facing inflation of 150% to 180%, unable to pay their military salaries.” Media reports had indicated that Oman and Iran were close to reaching an agreement on a procedure for the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
