Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey Sign Joint Defense Agreement

Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey signed a joint defense agreement in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday. The agreement stipulates that any armed attack on any of the three countries will be considered an attack on all three. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) relayed the joint statement from the Mecca Summit on Joint Defense among Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, which stated: “The Mecca Summit on Joint Defense was held, during which the distinguished relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the Republic of Turkey, as well as a number of issues of common interest, were reviewed.”

It added that “in light of the firm historical ties among the three countries, and based on the bonds of Islamic brotherhood and solidarity that unite them, and drawing on shared strategic interests and close defense cooperation, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif signed the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense. This agreement reflects the three countries’ commitment to enhancing their common security and achieving peace, stability, and security in the region and the world, striving for a secure and prosperous future.”
