Al-Arabi concludes camp in Turkey and departs for India
The senior men’s football team of Al-Arabi Club departed the Turkish city of Izmit, concluding a training camp held there for approximately two weeks. The team delegation is now heading to the Indian city of Calcutta, which will host next Wednesday’s decisive “Green” match against hosts East Bengal in the playoff for qualification to the AFC Champions League Two in its upcoming edition.
This follows the allocation of nominations for local clubs to participate in Asian competitions, with Al-Kuwait Club securing direct entry into the AFC Champions League Two after winning the AFC Challenge League in the previous edition, along with a “half spot” in the same competition through the playoff match contested by Al-Arabi. Additionally, Al-Qadsia will participate in the AFC Challenge League with a direct entry.
Under the leadership of Croatian coach Goran Sablić, Al-Arabi began preparations for the new season with internal training sessions at the club’s stadium before departing for Turkey, specifically Izmit, where the training camp took place. The camp featured four friendly matches: a 4-0 victory over Emdespor, a 1-1 draw with Vanspor, a 1-3 loss to Erzurumspor, and another 1-3 defeat against Egyptian side Pyramids FC. These four matches were played against teams of progressively higher standards, aiming to bring the players’ training levels to the required standard by the end of the camp.
Coach Sablić is expected to make decisions regarding the club’s foreign players for the new season in the coming days. The current squad includes six foreigners: Palestinian Zaid Qanbar, Nigerian Iyala, Senegalese Jauhar Khadem Rasoul, Brazilian Lucas Chalón, Brazilian Sheldon, and Ethiopian Kinan Maliko. Chalón appears most likely to leave the club, as the coach has reportedly finalized this decision.
Al-Jahra completes foreign player contracts
The senior men’s football team of Al-Jahra Club has completed the five-year contracts of its foreign players in preparation for the new season, after announcing the signing of three new foreigners: Cameroonians Takamba Nasam and Chérif Aflana, and Brazilian Marcus Ramos. They join the existing duo of Ghanaians Evans Ampofo and Brazilian Rorima Mont.
The “Red Palace” players continue their daily training sessions under the guidance of national coach Ahmed Abdul-Karim, preparing for the start of the new season. The team aims to demonstrate a distinct presence in the Premier League competitions, following the decision to cancel their relegation after the Kuwait Football Association approved the participation of 12 clubs in the league next season. This ensures that the ten clubs from last season remain, along with two teams promoted from the ongoing First Division.
Fahaheel draw with Al-Sekka Al-Hadid
The senior men’s football team of Fahaheel Club drew 1-1 with Egyptian side Al-Sekka Al-Hadid in their first pre-season friendly during the current training camp in Alexandria, Egypt, in preparation for the new season. Fahaheel’s sole goal was scored by Hamad Al-Tawil, who recently joined the squad from Khaitan.
Under the leadership of Slovak coach Martin Ševila, the team aims to achieve the highest levels of preparation during the current pre-season period before the new season begins.
