Al-Qadsia defeats Al-Arabi 3-0, and Kuwait loses to Portsmouth
Al-Qadsieh Club secured a 3-1 victory over Saudi side Al-Arabi in a friendly match played as part of the Yellow Team’s current training camp in preparation for the new season. Al-Qadsieh is gearing up for the upcoming campaign, in which it will compete for domestic titles and represent the country in the AFC Challenge League.
The three goals for Al-Qadsieh were scored by Moroccan professional Hamza Khaba, Badr Jamal, and Abdullah Al-Awadi, after the Saudi team had taken an early 1-0 lead that held until halftime. This was Al-Qadsieh’s second match in the current camp, following a previous 1-1 draw with Saudi club Al-Zulfi.
Al-Qadsieh’s national coach, Mohammed Ibrahim, along with his coaching staff, fielded most of the players currently in the camp’s roster throughout both halves of the match, in an effort to build the required cohesion between long-standing squad members and newly arrived players, both local and foreign professionals who have completely changed since the previous season.
Al-Qadsieh is awaiting the arrival of Nigerian professional Gabriel Urok within the next two days, after completing the paperwork for his entry visa to Turkey, which had previously prevented him from joining the start of the camp. The current list of Al-Qadsieh’s foreign professionals includes the quartet of Moroccan Hamza Khaba, Omani Abdulrahman Al-Mushaifri, Nigerian Gabriel Urok, and Moroccan Ayoub Al-Khadra, with the identity of the fifth professional yet to be finalized before the end of the current camp.
Meanwhile, Al-Kuwait lost to Portsmouth. On the other hand, Al-Kuwait Club suffered a defeat to English Championship side Portsmouth, which competes in the second tier of English football, just below the Premier League. This was Al-Kuwait’s second match during its current training camp in the British capital, London.
Al-Kuwait had opened its friendly fixtures in London with a match against English club Milton Keynes, which won 1-0. The encounter against Portsmouth proved to be a good and strong experience for the Kuwaiti side, led by Portuguese coach Alexandre, who also sought to field the majority of his available players to gain the necessary match fitness and experience ahead of the new season, during which the team will compete in the AFC Champions League Two.
Al-Salmiya to face Al-Markhiya. The Al-Salmiya first football team will play its second friendly match in its current training camp in Turkey today, when it faces Qatari side Al-Markhiya in Izmit. Al-Salmiya had opened its friendly schedule with a match against Egyptian club Zamalek, which won 3-0.
Al-Salmiya’s Bahraini coach, Ali Ashour, is working to prepare his players adequately ahead of the new season, during which the Sky Blue team aims to return strongly and compete for domestic titles.
