Kuwait plays Portsmouth... Al-Arabi loses to Pyramids
Kuwait Club’s first team played its second friendly match today during its current training camp in the British capital, London, facing Portsmouth, a competitor in the English Championship, the division below the Premier League. Al-Abyad (The Whites) had kicked off its friendly campaign against Milton Keynes, a team competing in League 1, and lost the Kuwaiti side 1-0 in a match that proved beneficial for Al-Abyad as it prepares for the new season through this camp. The team aims to retain its league title and compete strongly for the AFC Champions League Two title, to which Al-Abyad qualified directly as winners of the previous AFC Challenge League edition.
Portuguese coach Alexandre seeks to continue fielding most of his squad in the second camp match, aiming to provide players with sufficient experience and intense physical engagement against a strong opponent, making the encounter technically and physically beneficial for Al-Abyad’s players.
Al-Akhdar (The Greens) lost to Pyramids FC. During its training camp in the Turkish city of Izmit, Al-Arabi Club lost 3-1 to Egyptian side Pyramids FC in a strong encounter that featured outstanding performances from Al-Akhdar’s players, both expatriates and locals, including Ethiopian Kenan Maliko, who scored his first goal for Al-Arabi just days after joining the team’s training camp in Turkey. The first half ended with both teams scoring one goal each; Maliko scored for Al-Arabi, while Pyramids’ goal came from Abdelrahman Magdy. In the second half, the Egyptian team added two more goals: the second came from Ahmed Atef, and the third was scored by Mustafa Zico, a star of the Egyptian national team at the 2026 World Cup.
Al-Akhdar aims to achieve the highest levels of technical and physical preparation under Croatian coach Goran Sablić, who took over the role from national coach Nasser Al-Shatti, ahead of their trip to India to face Indian side East Bengal in the AFC Champions League Two qualification playoff. This decisive match will mark Al-Akhdar’s start to the new season.
Meanwhile, Al-Asfar (The Yellows) lost to Al-Arabi. On his part, Al-Qadsiah Club lost 3-1 to Al-Wehda Club in its second friendly match during its current training camp in Izmit, Turkey, following a 1-1 draw with Saudi side Al-Zulfi in its first camp match. Al-Qadsiah is preparing for the new season, in which it will represent the country in the AFC Challenge League, while also striving to return to podium finishes in domestic competitions, particularly in the upcoming Premier League edition. The match against Al-Wehda saw national coach Mohammed Ibrahim field most of the players on the camp roster, with the majority playing across both halves.
