Ministry of Cooperative Affairs: Termination of services for employees who have reached the age of 70

The Ministry of Social Affairs, represented by its Financial and Administrative Affairs Sector and the Cooperation Affairs Sector, has directed cooperative societies to take legal measures to terminate the services of all employees who have reached the age of 70 or older, while settling all their entitled financial and employment benefits. A senior source told Al-Qabas that the ministry granted cooperative societies a 30-day deadline to implement the decision, starting from the date of the circular, and required them to provide a list detailing the names of employees whose services were terminated. The source noted that this step is part of the ministry’s plan to accelerate the Kuwaitization of all supervisory and support positions in cooperative societies, enabling national talents and creating opportunities for young Kuwaitis to fill these roles, in line with the state’s policy of increasing Kuwaitization rates. He added that the measure also falls within the ministry’s efforts to reorganize functional structures and address appointments made in previous years based on electoral considerations or personal connections within some boards of directors, thereby enhancing fairness, equal opportunity, and the efficiency of cooperative work.
