Council of Ministers: Developing the educational system and ensuring the quality of education

The Cabinet held its meeting today, Tuesday, August 4, 2026, presided over by His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, may God protect him. Following the meeting, His Excellency Sheikh Saleh Abdullah Al-Muwesheri, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, issued the following statement:

On the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of the State of Kuwait, which coincided with last Sunday, Kuwait remembers with deep pain and bitterness the treacherous crime committed by the Iraqi regime on the dawn of August 2, 1990. This event remains a testament to national unity and a firm milestone through which generations recall the great sacrifices made by Kuwaitis in defense of their homeland and its sovereignty. This anniversary embodies the spirit of cohesion and loyalty, highlighting the values of belonging to Kuwait and the people’s unity around their legitimate leadership.

The Cabinet highly appreciates and honors the prominent role played by the late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the late Father Amir Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah, the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and the late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God have mercy on them, in working to liberate the State of Kuwait from the clutches of occupation.

The Cabinet proudly recalls the steadfastness and heroic sacrifices of the Kuwaiti people in confronting the treacherous Iraqi aggression, which stands as a model of national unity and a pivotal moment reflecting the cohesion of Kuwaitis both domestically and abroad, standing as one solid block behind their legitimate leadership. This historic and humanitarian tableau was characterized by bravery, patience, and faith.

The Cabinet deeply appreciates and honors the sacrifices of the righteous martyrs and loyal resistance heroes who defended the homeland with their pure blood, writing in the pages of history an epic of a people who know no defeat in their defense of the State of Kuwait during the brutal Iraqi invasion. Kuwaitis proved during this critical phase in the nation’s history that unity of ranks and deep faith in the justice of the cause were Kuwait’s impregnable shield and the secret to its rise from adversity to glory. He prayed to Almighty God to envelop the righteous martyrs in His boundless mercy and grant them Paradise.

The Cabinet renewed its gratitude and appreciation to all brotherly and friendly countries that contributed to the liberation of the State of Kuwait and the restoration of rights to their rightful owners. It prayed to Almighty God to perpetuate the blessings of security and stability upon our beloved nation under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of the State, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and guard him, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him.

On another note, the Cabinet expressed its strongest condemnation and rejection of the continued unjust Iranian aggression against the country, which targeted several vital facilities, including a government facility in the north of the country, and civilian vehicles belonging to one of the civil companies on Bubiyan Island, on Friday and Saturday of last week. This was carried out using hostile drones, in a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait, a direct threat to its security and stability, and a serious breach of the rules of international law, the UN Charter, principles of good neighborliness, and Security Council Resolution (2817). The Cabinet emphasized that the continuation of these brazen attacks constitutes a dangerous escalation and reflects an aggressive stance that cannot be justified or accepted, as it undermines regional security and stability and exacerbates tensions. It reiterated Kuwait’s inherent and legitimate right to take all necessary measures to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its security, interests, assets, and the safety of its citizens and residents on its soil.

For its part, the Cabinet expressed its strong condemnation and rejection of the attacks on the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by militias affiliated with Iran in Iraq, reflecting the determination of these militias to continue escalating and destabilizing regional security and stability. The latest such brazen aggression involved the launch of drones in a futile attempt to target oil facilities in the Eastern Region last week, constituting a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a threat to its security and territorial integrity. This occurred while the Kingdom is making sincere efforts to contribute to ending regional escalation. The Cabinet renewed Kuwait’s absolute solidarity with the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, standing by its side and supporting all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty, interests, and assets, including its inherent right to self-defense guaranteed by international law under Article 51 of the UN Charter. It emphasized that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of the State of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

Furthermore, the Cabinet expressed its strong condemnation and rejection of the renewed Iranian aggression that targeted the brotherly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with a number of missiles last week, considering this attack a blatant violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and a threat to regional security and stability. It renewed Kuwait’s full solidarity with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, standing by its side and supporting all measures it takes to safeguard its security and sovereignty, stressing the necessity of putting an end to these attacks and respecting the rules of international law and principles of good neighborliness.

The Cabinet also expressed its strong condemnation and rejection of the attack on the brotherly Arab Republic of Egypt, where a drone strike caused a fire on board two ships at the Port of Damietta last week. It reaffirmed Kuwait’s full solidarity with the Arab Republic of Egypt, standing by its side and supporting all measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty and protect its security and interests.

On another note, the Cabinet listened to a briefing presented by His Excellency the Minister of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salim Al-Sabah, regarding the latest developments in the regional situation and current military developments in light of the unjust Iranian attacks suffered by the State of Kuwait in recent days. He emphasized the readiness of the Armed Forces and their continued performance of their duties and responsibilities with competence and capability, taking all necessary measures and precautions to safeguard the sovereignty and territory of the State of Kuwait, preserve its security and stability, and protect citizens and residents.

For its part, the Cabinet listened to a briefing presented by His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, regarding the political and diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its diplomatic missions abroad to keep pace with the latest developments in the regional and international arenas.

In this context, His Excellency informed the Cabinet of the results of his official visit to the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, last Wednesday, and the substance of his meetings with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, attended by the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, and the Pakistani ministers of Defense, Commerce, National Food Security, Research, Communications, Maritime Affairs, and Petroleum, along with several senior Pakistani officials. During the meetings, His Excellency conveyed the greetings of His Highness the Amir of the State, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and guard him, His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister, to His Excellency the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with their best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly government and people of Pakistan.

The meeting reviewed the firm historical relations between the two countries and their peoples and discussed ways to elevate and enhance cooperation prospects in various fields to achieve the common interests of both nations. The latest regional developments and efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region were also discussed. His Excellency expressed Kuwait’s appreciation for the active diplomatic role played by the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in supporting regional security and stability.

His Excellency also informed the Cabinet of the substance of two meetings he held with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, and the Chief of Army Staff and Commander of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, General Asim Munir. During these meetings, the firm historical relations between the two countries and their peoples were reviewed, and the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation frameworks, intensify coordination, and consult in various fields was emphasized. The latest regional developments and efforts aimed at de-escalation and enhancing security and stability in the region were also discussed.

On another note, the Cabinet was briefed on a visual presentation by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Sayed Jalal Sayed Abdulmuhsin Al-Tabtabaee, attended by senior officials and administrators of the Ministry of Education, regarding the Ministry’s preparations for the launch of the new academic year 2026/2027 and the measures taken to ensure the readiness of the educational system and prepare schools to receive students. The presentation covered the main pillars of preparation at educational, administrative, technical, engineering, and technological levels, as well as updates on curriculum and educational regulation development, completion of school preparations, and provision of various needs and requirements. Additionally, it highlighted the use of technology to manage and monitor the preparation plan through a dedicated electronic platform for monitoring and tracking operational plans for the new academic year, enabling the tracking of work progress and completion rates, enhancing supervision on implementation, and identifying and addressing challenges in real time. This supports rapid decision-making and the completion of works according to specified timelines.
