Ministers and senior officials on the 36th anniversary of the invasion: Kuwait is impervious to betrayal due to its people's unity

Faisal Matar: Ministers and senior officials affirmed that the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait represents a firm national milestone, during which we recall the enduring stands of Kuwaitis in resilience, sacrifice, and rallying around the legitimate leadership in defense of the nation and its sovereignty. Ministers and officials stressed that Kuwait is impervious to treachery due to the cohesion of its people and the governance of its leadership, noting that this painful anniversary arrives under exceptional circumstances, with national unity serving as a bulwark against the evil Iranian aggression. They emphasized that the brutal invasion revealed to the world the true mettle of the Kuwaiti people, who have become a byword for unity of ranks, sacrifice for the homeland, and solidarity with the leadership. They underscored that safeguarding Kuwait’s security, stability, and sovereignty is an extension of those great sacrifices. They stated that national unity of ranks and the solidarity of Kuwaitis were the fundamental pillars in confronting the occupation, liberating the country, and protecting its gains, affirming that this anniversary renews the national responsibility to preserve Kuwait’s security and stability, and to advance the path of development and prosperity. They noted that Kuwaitis recall with pride and honor the sacrifices made by the nation’s sons across various fronts, paying tribute to the noble martyrs whose pure blood watered the soil of Kuwait in the quest to restore its sovereignty over all its territories. They added: “During that bitter ordeal, Kuwait demonstrated the highest meanings of national cohesion, as the people rallied around their political leadership and legitimate government, reaffirming their commitment to constitutional legitimacy and state sovereignty, and embodying the finest examples of loyalty, fidelity, and belonging to the beloved homeland. Despite the harshness of the event, the Kuwaiti people proved to the entire world that love for the homeland is invincible, and that faith in legitimacy and national unity is stronger than any oppressive force. Moreover, the homeland does not erase its memory as long as there is a voice everywhere calling for justice and appealing to the world to come to the aid of the land of peace. The anniversary of the invasion remains a national occasion to recall the sacrifices of the martyrs, the resilience of the people, and to renew pride in national unity and loyalty to the leadership, as well as to serve as an opportunity to instill national values in the hearts of future generations, who will continue to carry their country’s flag with pride and contribute to completing the path of development, progress, and nation-building.”
