Al-Yousef: FIFA prioritizes the needs of national federations

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Yousef Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Football Association, affirmed that decisions related to the future of development programs in FIFA must always be based on what best serves the interests of national associations and ensures the sustainability of their support and their capacity to implement strategic plans. He explained that FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s decision not to continue the FIFA Forward Enterprise project reflects a responsible approach that places the needs of member associations at the forefront of priorities, and underscores the commitment to maintaining the effectiveness of development programs that benefit the global football community. He added that the Kuwait Football Association views positively any initiative aimed at developing the global football system, but noted that the success of any project depends on its alignment with the requirements of national associations and its ability to deliver added value without affecting foundational programs that constitute the cornerstone of football development. Al-Yousef stressed that FIFA Forward programs have demonstrated their pivotal role in recent years in supporting infrastructure projects, enhancing governance, and developing the technical and administrative capacities of member associations, making the continuity of these programs a priority at the current stage. He also reaffirmed the Kuwait Football Association’s confidence in the leadership of the FIFA President and its support for efforts aimed at developing the game and enhancing opportunities for its growth, in a manner that serves all national associations and achieves the shared interest of global football.
