CBS: Washington and Tel Aviv prepare for a severe bombing campaign against Iran's energy infrastructure

CBS News cited multiple sources saying that Washington and Tel Aviv are planning what would be one of the most severe bombing campaigns to date against Iran’s energy infrastructure targets, with strikes possibly occurring over the weekend. According to the network, discussions were held about reaching an agreement by the time financial markets open on Monday, due to concerns about how the explosions would affect the U.S. and global economies, but no final decision has been made. Multiple U.S. sources reported that Tel Aviv had been informed and is coordinating with the United States, adding that U.S. President Donald Trump has not yet issued final orders to carry out the strikes. According to the sources, the military strike plan was presented during a Trump administration meeting at Camp David on Friday, and one source said that some of the president’s aides focused on political affairs strongly opposed the plan.
