Chief of Staff: Necessity of Maintaining the Safety of International Navigation in Waterways

Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Khaled Al-Sharhan, emphasized the importance of waterways and the necessity of maintaining the safety of international navigation within them. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense stated in a statement on Thursday that this came during Lieutenant General Al-Sharhan’s leadership of the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the meeting of chiefs of staff of the Combined Maritime Forces, held in the brotherly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Al-Sharhan reiterated the importance of waterways and the need to ensure the safety of international navigation, particularly in light of current circumstances and security developments in the region. He stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination among participating states to consolidate security and stability and to guarantee freedom of navigation in waterways.
