Lebanon: Smuggling of a shipment of Captagon to Kuwait thwarted, hidden inside a children's suitcase

The Lebanese Ministry of Interior announced the thwarting of an operation to smuggle 6.5 kilograms of Captagon pills to Kuwait, hidden inside a child’s bed frame. The ministry said in a statement that “6.5 kilograms of Captagon pills, intended for smuggling to the State of Kuwait via a shipping company, were seized, concealed within a child’s bed frame.” It added that “coordination was carried out with Kuwait’s General Directorate for Combating Narcotics through the Criminal Security Department at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon, resulting in the arrest of one of the individuals involved in Kuwait and the seizure of a quantity of drugs in his possession.” In the same context, the ministry announced that customs officials at Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport had earlier intercepted a postal parcel containing 4.5 kilograms of Captagon pills, professionally concealed inside a child’s bed frame, which was to be smuggled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia via one of the shipping companies.
