Indonesian Foreign Minister: We stand in solidarity with Kuwait in the face of Iranian attacks

Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi reaffirmed on Tuesday (Tuesday) her country’s solidarity with Kuwait in the face of Iranian attacks on vital civilian facilities, stressing that such actions violate international law. The Kuwaiti Embassy in Jakarta said in a statement that this came during a meeting held by Minister Retno with Kuwait’s Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, Khaled Al-Yassin, to discuss developments in the regional situation amid ongoing Iranian aggression and violations targeting the security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Kuwait and other countries in the region, and the resulting regional and international repercussions. The statement quoted Minister Retno emphasizing the importance of de-escalation and resolving disputes through peaceful means. On the bilateral level, she pointed to the importance of the partnership between the two countries, based on mutual respect and shared values, and its role in enhancing efforts toward sustainable construction and development, stressing the need to activate bilateral agreements concluded between the two sides. For his part, Ambassador Al-Yassin stressed Kuwait’s commitment to developing ties of cooperation with the Republic of Indonesia across various fields, highlighting the importance of strengthening political, economic, and cultural cooperation to serve the common interests of the two friendly countries. The statement noted that the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between Kuwait and the Republic of Indonesia, and reviewed recent developments in the regional situation and ways to continue coordination on issues of mutual concern.
