Al-Sahel to Maintain Lead Over Qita'at, While Yarmouk Faces Sporty
Al-Sahil’s first team is striving to maintain its lead at the top of the First Division table of the Zain League when it faces Khaitan at 8:45 pm at Abdullah Al-Khalifa Stadium at Al-Yarmouk Club, in the 15th round of the championship. Meanwhile, Al-Yarmouk fears a surprise from Sporty in their match scheduled for the same time at Nasser Al-Asimi Stadium at Khaitan Club, following the team’s loss to Al-Sahil in the previous round. In two other matches, Salibikhaet will play Shemaa on Auxiliary Field 1 at Jaber Stadium, and Al-Jazeera will face Burqan at Al-Sahil Club’s pitch to conclude the round.
League competitions had been suspended for more than two months due to current events, prompting the Competitions Department of the Kuwait Football Association to decide to resume the championship during the current period before the start of the new season, in order to determine the two teams qualified for the Zain Premier League next season.
Abu Hleifa’s sons continue their winning streak
In the Al-Sahil vs. Khaitan clash, Abu Hleifa’s sons, led by national coach Ali Abdul-Razzaq, aim to continue their winning run and retain the top spot they secured alone after the previous round, following their 1-0 victory over Al-Yarmouk in that round’s climax. This win brought Al-Sahil’s tally to 32 points. Meanwhile, Khaitan, under Turkish coach Ozkan, seeks to avenge its previous round’s 1-0 defeat to Shemaa and achieve a fresh start, especially given the decline in performance and results for Khaitan this season.
Al-Sahil delivered a strong performance against Al-Yarmouk in the first official match under coach Ali Abdul-Razzaq, successfully securing crucial points and taking sole possession of the top of the table. The team relied on a squad combining experienced players, young talents, and outstanding foreign professionals.
Al-Yarmouk, aiming to continue competing for the top spot, seeks to regain confidence ahead of Sporty, who are buoyed by their historic victory in the previous round against Burqan – their first win in official club competitions. This result serves as a strong motivation for Sporty in today’s match against Al-Yarmouk.
Despite the experience gap, Al-Yarmouk failed to deliver the expected performance against Al-Sahil. The technical change following the departure of national coach Zahir Al-Adwani may have negatively impacted the team. Salibikhaet face a tough test against Shemaa
Salibikhaet, led by Portuguese coach Miranda, will face a tough encounter against Shemaa, who are also energized by their previous round’s win over Khaitan. Salibikhaet, which drew with Al-Jazeera, benefited from Al-Yarmouk’s loss to level with them at second place, each with 29 points. Shemaa hope to secure a positive result today to gradually improve their position in the league table, as they currently sit in fifth place from the bottom with 10 points.
Al-Jazeera aim to enter the qualification race
Al-Jazeera have a chance to enter the race for one of the two promotion spots to the Premier League when they face Burqan today in the same round. Al-Jazeera hold 25 points in fourth place, four points behind the duo of Al-Yarmouk and Salibikhaet. Al-Jazeera had a chance to move into second place had they defeated Salibikhaet in the previous round, but they settled for a draw, increasing their ambition for today’s match. They will take advantage of Burqan’s decline in form, which suffered a loss to Sporty in the previous round and now sits in sixth place with 14 points.
