Kats: Iranians are currently firing at all countries in the region, except us

Israeli Defense Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir announced on Tuesday that US warplanes and aerial refueling tankers had taken off from bases in Israel to carry out strikes against Iran, while simultaneously confirming that the United States is currently preventing Tel Aviv from targeting Iranian energy facilities due to concerns over the repercussions for energy markets and regional security.

Speaking at a security conference organized by Israel’s Channel 14, Ben-Gvir stated that Washington is currently barring Israel from attacking Iran’s energy infrastructure. “We very much want to target Iranian energy assets, but the United States does not agree to this at this stage,” he said.

He explained that the US administration fears such strikes could trigger an Iranian response against neighboring countries, potentially leading to a global crisis in oil markets. Ben-Gvir confirmed that US aircraft are using Israeli bases during their operations against Iran, adding, “The Iranians are firing at every country in the region except us, because they know that US warplanes and refueling tankers take off from here to carry out the strikes.”

He acknowledged that this situation could change rapidly, but emphasized that Tel Aviv has defined its stance in the event of a direct attack. “If we come under fire, we will respond with full force,” he said, adding, “We have attacked Iran twice, and we are prepared to deliver a third strike if necessary.”
