Blackstone, the world’s largest alternative asset manager, announced on Monday its plans to open an office in Kuwait through the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, a move that will strengthen its presence in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Commenting on this step, Jonathan Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer of Blackstone, said, “Kuwait possesses the resources, vision, and leadership that qualify it to become a significant commercial and financial hub in the region.” He added, “Private capital investments can play a crucial role in supporting the country’s long-term efforts to diversify its economy, and we look forward to deepening our partnership, which spans nearly four decades.” For his part, Sheikh Dr. Meshal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of the Direct Investment Promotion Authority, stated that the presence of leading global companies in Kuwait reflects growing confidence in the promising long-term prospects of our national economy, and that this presence further enhances Kuwait’s position as a destination for investment and sustainable growth. Blackstone expects to open its Kuwait office in the third quarter of 2026. The company plans to continue expanding its regional footprint by announcing additional offices in GCC countries next year.
