Minister of Justice: Full judicial independence by October 2030

Justice Minister and Advisor Nasser Al-Sumait announced on Sunday the completion of the second phase of the plan to replace and empower Kuwaiti personnel in the judiciary, in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Amir of the State, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and support him, regarding the necessity of Kuwaitizing the judiciary and strengthening reliance on national competencies.

Advisor Al-Sumait told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the second phase of the plan saw the issuance of ministerial decisions concluding the secondment of 82 members of the judiciary, raising the Kuwaitization rate to 87 percent of the total number of judiciary members as of September 30, 2026, as part of the phased implementation of the replacement plan according to the approved timeline.

He emphasized that only two phases remain to fully complete the judiciary Kuwaitization plan, achieving a Kuwaitization rate of 100 percent by October 1, 2030, in line with the directives of the wise political leadership and to consolidate reliance on national competencies, further advancing the development of the judicial sector.

Advisor Al-Sumait expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to his brothers, the members of the judiciary in the Arab Republic of Egypt, for their dedicated efforts over the years of their service, which contributed to the administration of justice in the State of Kuwait, wishing them continued success and achievement.
