Minister of Communications: Implementation of training programs in collaboration with Google Cloud
The Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Affairs, serving as Acting Minister of Information and Culture, Omar Al-Omar, called for enhancing the participation of government employees in training programs and professional assessments under initiatives aimed at developing digital skills.
In a statement addressed to government entities, Al-Omar said, “In line with the state’s strategic directions to enhance the efficiency of national cadres and strengthen the readiness of the public sector to keep pace with the requirements of digital empowerment, and to build national capacities capable of dealing with modern technologies in fields such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital solution management, the Central Agency for Information Technology is implementing specialized training initiatives and programs in collaboration with the global company Google Cloud. This effort is based on existing agreements and approved national initiatives in this regard.”
He added, “The results of the implemented training programs have shown positive indicators in terms of training quality, participant satisfaction, and the diversity of training pathways. However, the intended impact of these programs is not achieved merely by registration or attendance; it requires actual commitment to participation, completion of program requirements, attendance at professional assessments, and diligent efforts to obtain accredited certifications. This will positively reflect on improving government performance and supporting the state’s digital empowerment projects.”
Al-Omar emphasized the necessity of instructing relevant parties to pay due attention to active participation in training programs announced by the Central Agency for Information Technology. He urged nominated employees to commit to attendance, complete training requirements, and take the assessments associated with the programs. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of utilizing available vouchers for professional assessments and certifications within these initiatives. He stressed to entities under the ministers’ portfolios the importance of nominating suitable staff members according to the nature of their duties and career paths, while monitoring their regular attendance and commitment. He considered these programs an integral part of institutional capacity-building plans, contributing to elevating digital knowledge levels, consolidating a culture of continuous learning, and enabling government entities to implement their digital projects with experienced national cadres.
Linking training outcomes to government entities’ needs, Minister Omar Al-Omar affirmed that this comes from the state’s persistent commitment to investing in human resources, linking training outcomes to the actual needs of government entities, and ensuring tangible results from agreements and national initiatives in the field of digital skills development.
