Sidi Bou Said Included in the World Heritage List

The UNESCO World Heritage Committee, at its 48th session held in Busan, South Korea, unanimously decided to inscribe the village of Sidi Bou Said on the World Heritage List. The Tunisian Ministry of Culture described this inscription as the culmination of Tunisia’s nomination file, submitted under the title “Sidi Bou Said: A Center of Cultural and Spiritual Inspiration in the Mediterranean Sea.” With this inscription, the number of Tunisian sites on the World Heritage List rises to ten, reinforcing Tunisia’s position as one of the most represented Arab and African countries across various UNESCO lists. According to Al Arabiya, Sidi Bou Said is among the most prominent cultural and tourist destinations in Tunisia, renowned for its unique Arab-Andalusian architectural character, where white and blue hues blend, earning it international fame. The village is situated on the heights of Mount Menzah, overlooking the Gulf of Tunis, and gradually developed into a cohesive urban fabric that combines traditional residences with summer houses, thereby preserving its distinctive architectural and cultural identity over time.
