First Deputy Speaker Meets Basra Governor on Recent Security Developments in the Region

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Kuwaiti Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, held talks on Saturday with Asaad Al-Eidani, Governor of Basra in the Republic of Iraq, to discuss a number of issues of mutual interest, foremost among them the latest developments in the regional security situation. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior stated in a statement on Saturday that this meeting took place between Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef and the Governor of Basra, attended by several security and military leaders from the Ministries of Defense and Interior. The statement added that the meeting reviewed areas of cooperation between the two sides and discussed ways to enhance security coordination to support border security and serve shared interests within the framework of the fraternal relations uniting the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Iraq. It was reported that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Youssef Al-Saud Al-Sabah, inspected the Al-Abdali border crossing at the end of his visit and personally assessed the extent of the damage sustained by the crossing as a result of the unjust Iranian aggression. Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef directed the relevant authorities, according to the statement, to promptly assess the damages and take necessary measures to reopen the crossing as soon as possible, ensuring the return of traffic to normal and serving the interests of the two fraternal countries.
