Alliance for Supporting Legitimacy: We carried out a proportionate response against legitimate military targets of the Houthi militia

Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, the official spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy forces in Yemen, stated that the terrorist Houthi militia carried out a cowardly and reckless act by targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea, adding this to its list of crimes and maritime terrorism along one of the most important international waterways. He clarified that Saudi Arabia has stood and will continue to stand by the Yemeni people and its government during the most difficult circumstances and changes, reaffirming the Kingdom’s commitment to maintaining its support for them in confronting the terrorist Houthi militias.

He added that the port of Al-Hodeidah was not targeted, and that all Yemeni ports, including Al-Hodeidah, Ras Isa, and Al-Salif, remain open to maritime navigation and are operational to receive commercial vessels transporting food supplies, goods, fuel, and construction materials, as well as to accommodate air flights to Yemeni airports. The Houthi militia continues to refuse to operate flights from Sana’a International Airport and insists on besieging the Yemeni people, exporting the problems and suffering it has caused, thereby exacerbating the hardships faced by our Yemeni brothers in areas under its control.

Brigadier General Al-Maliki explained that the Coalition carried out a firm and strong response after prioritizing the preservation of the Yemeni people’s resources and interests. The targeting focused on legitimate military objectives of the terrorist Houthi militia linked to threats against ships in the Red Sea. The military response operation concluded by achieving the principle of proportionality and the planned operational objectives, and was conducted in accordance with the provisions and customary rules of international humanitarian law, consistent with the principle of proportionality.

He emphasized that the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition will continue to take all necessary operational measures and precautions to protect our vessels and safeguard the Kingdom’s interests and national resources. Should the Houthi militia persist in its hostile actions, it will be met with a resolute response without leniency.
