Trump: Compensation for any damage to ships will be paid from Iranian funds we are holding

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that any damages incurred by ships or cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz would be compensated from Iranian funds held by the United States. Trump stated in a post on his Truth Social platform: “From now on, the value of any damages to ships, cargo, or anything related to them will be paid using Iranian funds held and controlled by the United States.” He added, “Although these damages may be extremely severe, this is the fair and just measure.”
