Minister of Social Affairs: Family Protection Program is a unified government umbrella encompassing 86 initiatives with the participation of 13 entities
Kuwait’s Minister of Social Affairs, Labor, and Social Development, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwail, confirmed on Thursday that the government program for family protection represents a comprehensive national umbrella aimed at strengthening family protection and consolidating social stability through 86 specific initiatives involving 13 government entities. This statement was made by Minister Al-Huwail during the first meeting of the government program for family protection, attended by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohammed Al-Osaimi, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Acting Minister of Information and Culture Omar Al-Omar, Minister of Justice Advisor Nasser Al-Samit, and a number of officials and representatives of participating government entities to monitor progress and discuss coordination and integration mechanisms among relevant authorities.
Dr. Al-Huwail stated that the program constitutes an outstanding model of institutional and specialized integration in social work in the country, translating the political leadership’s directives aimed at protecting the family, enhancing community security, and achieving sustainable development. She added that the family is the primary incubator of values, ethics, and identity, and the fundamental environment in which future generations grow, emphasizing that protecting it is a shared responsibility requiring integrated roles among all competent authorities.
She clarified that the program is based on several strategic objectives, including updating legislation and family court laws, closing loopholes, safeguarding rights, enabling digital justice, and facilitating electronic transformation to streamline services and provide consultations. She noted that the program’s objectives also include enhancing community awareness, early prevention, addressing negative behavioral phenomena, and establishing principles of governance and professional competence by relying on observed data to develop policies and programs.
Dr. Al-Huwail commended the efforts of participating entities and the implementation steps achieved during the past period, calling for continued work, intensified coordination, and discussion of proposals to enhance the efficiency of the upcoming phase and support the achievement of the program’s goals. She stressed the importance of transforming initiatives into sustainable institutional programs that are not limited to seasonal campaigns, affirming that the program’s success requires continuous monitoring and effective integration among entities to strengthen the family protection system and consolidate social stability in the State of Kuwait.
During the meeting, the Office of the Minister of Social Affairs presented a visual presentation on the follow-up report on the implementation of the government program for family protection for the period from June to July 22, 2026, prepared by the Supreme Council for Family Affairs as the coordinating and monitoring body among relevant government entities.
The presentation reviewed the report’s key data and general indicators regarding the progress in implementing initiatives, explaining that they are distributed across governance, legislation, services, protection, prevention, awareness building, youth empowerment, and international cooperation. It indicated that the report showed progress in several initiatives related to strengthening family protection, raising community awareness, developing digital services, providing psychological and social support, and combating negative behavioral phenomena, reflecting the participating entities’ engagement with the program’s objectives.
The presentation also addressed the importance of enhancing coordination among participating entities, continuing to update data, and submitting periodic reports to contribute to measuring impact, developing initiatives, and achieving the best outcomes for beneficiaries. It emphasized that the upcoming phase requires sustained teamwork and unified government efforts to ensure the implementation of initiatives within a clear and sustainable institutional framework that enhances family and child protection and supports social stability.
