The Public Authority for Children’s Affairs organized an awareness seminar in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, titled “I Am Stronger,” under the patronage of Minister of Justice Advisor Nasser Al-Samait and in the presence of his deputy, Awatef Al-Sand, as part of the Authority’s participation in the national awareness campaign to combat drug abuse, “A Nation That Protects You.”
Speaking to KUNA after the seminar, Acting Director General of the Children’s Affairs Authority, Aliya Al-Saqer, stated that the Authority’s participation in this national campaign stems from its social responsibility and its commitment to raising awareness among members of society, particularly the children in its care, by promoting preventive culture and equipping them with knowledge and skills that help protect them from the scourge of drug abuse. She emphasized that safeguarding the younger generation from this destructive scourge is a national duty.
Al-Saqer explained that the seminar covered three main awareness themes: “Protecting minors under the Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law,” “Dealing with juvenile cases involving drugs: between prevention and rehabilitation,” and “Protecting our children from drugs is a national duty.” She stressed that combating drug abuse and protecting children is a shared national responsibility that requires the concerted efforts of all relevant authorities, affirming that raising awareness and early intervention are the cornerstone of building an informed and resilient generation capable of contributing to societal development and preserving security and stability.
Participants in the seminar emphasized the need to strengthen penalties imposed on drug and psychotropic substance traffickers and those who exploit minors, while also highlighting reporting mechanisms and early intervention, as well as the importance of integrating legal deterrence with community-based prevention.
