Zain contributes $10 million to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund

Zain Group announced its support for the national strategic initiative launched by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to establish the “Kuwait Emergency Response Fund,” aimed at enhancing national preparedness and strengthening the capacity to confront challenges and exceptional circumstances. The group stated that it contributed $10 million to the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund initiative, noting that this national initiative came at a highly critical time, representing a collective national response to a phase that demands the alignment of national efforts and the integration of roles among state institutions, the private sector, and various relevant entities. This imposes a shared national responsibility requiring effective participation from major national institutions.

Zain emphasized that the current phase, marked by rapid regional developments and exceptional challenges, along with their direct and indirect impacts on the sustainability of national gains, infrastructure efficiency, and the continuity of basic services, highlights the importance of unifying national efforts and strengthening partnerships among different state institutions and the private sector to consolidate Kuwait’s preparedness and ability to handle various changes and exceptional circumstances.

The group noted that this initiative came at a pivotal time witnessing national challenges and obligations that require the highest levels of preparedness and solidarity. As a national institution closely linked to Kuwait’s development journey, having witnessed its various stages and challenges, the group revealed that participating in this initiative represents a national duty before it is an institutional responsibility, embodying its role as a strategic partner that places its capabilities and expertise at the service of the country, contributing to efforts aimed at enhancing national preparedness and consolidating the foundations of stability and sustainability.

Development Journey

Bader Nasser Al-Kharafi, Deputy Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Zain Group, said: “In light of these exceptional circumstances, enhancing the country’s capacity to confront challenges and preserve the development journey is a shared national responsibility that requires the combined efforts of all institutions and sectors, as it is a national goal that unites national wills under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect and support him. It necessitates continuing joint work, consolidating the culture of national responsibility, and enhancing effective partnerships.”

Al-Kharafi affirmed that the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund initiative represents a model of national partnership and embodies the state’s vision of building an institutional system capable of responding swiftly to exceptional circumstances by mobilizing national resources and directing them toward priority projects and needs, thereby enhancing the state’s ability to prepare in advance and recover during crises and emergencies.

He clarified: “National preparedness is a shared responsibility that requires unifying capabilities, and the private sector is a key partner in supporting state plans and enhancing its ability to handle changes and mitigate their impacts, ensuring the continuity of basic services and maintaining the stability of state institutions and vital facilities.”

He added: “Zain’s support and participation in this national initiative launched by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development align with its renewed commitment to its national and social responsibilities, and its belief in the necessity of enhancing the capacity to respond to current conditions, protect national gains, and ensure the continuity of basic services and infrastructure.”

We also express our great appreciation to the management of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and the team working on this national initiative, whose importance extends beyond providing the necessary resources to confront exceptional circumstances; it has established an advanced model of national partnership, mobilizing resources and directing them toward the state’s strategic priorities.”

He continued: “The establishment of the Kuwait Emergency Response Fund embodies a conscious national approach that enhances Kuwait’s preparedness and ability to handle various challenges and changes, while preserving its developmental gains and the sustainability of its vital services.”

Notably, the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development emphasized that this initiative is not merely emergency financing, but an integrated national tool for mobilizing local resources and directing them toward state priorities, calling on state institutions and the private sector to contribute to its support.
