"State Security": Confirmation of 5-year imprisonment for Salman Al-Khalidi on charges of insulting the Crown Prince's position

Judicial Editor – The State Security Appeals Court issued a series of rulings today (Tuesday) in several State Security cases, which included charges of inciting sectarian strife, sympathizing with Iranian attacks, broadcasting false news, and insulting Gulf states. The court upheld the sentence of five years’ imprisonment handed down to Salman Al-Khalidi, after he was convicted of insulting the position of the Emir and disparaging the Amir’s person, in the course of his trial in one of the cases. The court also upheld the acquittal of a citizen and two students from charges of inciting sectarian strife and sympathizing with Iranian attacks, after it was established that they were abroad at the time of the attacks and were unaware of the events that took place in Kuwait at that time.
