In Times of Crisis, Loyalty Strengthens

They may seem like small actions—and indeed they are small—and may not have an obvious impact if they are individual acts. But when millions, even hundreds of millions, do them, they transform into a national force that empowers the state to overcome any emergency. Turning off every device when it is not needed, and passing by every light that has no reason to be on, may appear as minor deeds, but they certainly become a silent strength that eases pressure on the water network and gives the state greater capacity to confront any energy-related problem. In these difficult circumstances we are currently experiencing in Kuwait, conserving consumption becomes a genuine participation in protecting Kuwait, not merely a seasonal recommendation. In such times, patriotism is not found in words but in behavior, and the responsible citizen does not wait for a crisis to act; rather, he considers safeguarding his country’s resources a daily duty, just as he protects his home and family. A strong nation begins with an aware citizen, and the country needs our initiatives and actions more than it needs slogans, for in crises patriotism rises and flourishes. When we reduce our consumption of electricity and water today, due to climate conditions and political tensions that have begun to affect our energy facilities, we are not merely saving money on a bill; we are adding a margin of security to our nation. In these difficult circumstances, conserving consumption becomes a genuine participation in protecting Kuwait, not just a seasonal recommendation. Let us all cooperate, citizens and residents alike, to overcome the setbacks that befall a homeland we love and cherish, which has given us much and continues to do so. Iqbal Al-Ahmad
