Turkish Ambassador: Trade Volume with Kuwait Exceeds $1 Billion

Maysa Al-Sukari – Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait, Tuğba Nur Sonmez, has concluded her duties, leaving behind milestones she described as the most prominent in the history of Kuwait-Turkey relations, which over the past four years have transitioned to a strategic partnership level, driven by shared political will and growing cooperation across various political, economic, defense, and cultural fields. This was stated in her speech during a farewell ceremony held at her residence. Sonmez affirmed that Kuwait had become a second home to her, expressing her pride in representing Turkey in a country she described as a brotherly and friendly nation, and in serving the Turkish community throughout her tenure. She noted that her appointment as ambassador to Kuwait in June 2022 marked a pivotal point in her diplomatic career, highlighting that bilateral relations achieved significant progress during this period, elevating them to a strategic partnership. Sonmez explained that the Turkish Embassy organized more than 150 events during her tenure, covering sectors such as trade, culture, education, and arts, and noted that bilateral trade volume with Kuwait exceeded one billion dollars.
