Diwan Al-Khadma Approves Change of Title for "Sanitation Inspector" at the Municipality
The Civil Service Diwan has approved changing the job title of employees who have completed a two-year training course after secondary school at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) in the specialization of “Sanitation Inspector,” from their current title to the new title “Municipal Services Inspector.” This change aims to enhance the inspectors’ competence and align the job title with all aspects of their supervisory work.
The Chairman of the Civil Service Diwan, Dr. Essam Al-Rabiah, called on the Municipality to coordinate with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training to modify the specialization of the course if it wishes to reopen the program.
A well-informed source told Al-Qabas that the Municipality had sent a letter to the Civil Service Diwan, indicating its efforts to develop technical cadres and meet its staffing needs. Coordination is underway with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training regarding the establishment of the “Qualification Course for Sanitation Inspectors,” which aims to cover the following key areas: “general sanitation, road works, waste landfilling, salon inspections, and advertising.” This follows coordination with the Civil Service Diwan.
The source added that changing the job title from “Sanitation Inspector” to “Municipal Services Inspector” is intended to comply with Civil Service Council Decision No. 37 of 2012. The current title, “Sanitation Inspector,” mentally confines the inspector’s role to field sanitation tasks, whereas the proposed title accurately reflects the comprehensive nature of inspection duties related to “sanitation, road works, waste landfilling, salons, and advertising,” thereby adding realistic precision to the job description.
He emphasized that the title change keeps pace with ongoing organizational development and the qualification program being coordinated with the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training, aiming to meet the staffing needs of the Kuwait Municipality and enhance inspectors’ competence so they can serve as comprehensive monitors of municipal services. This necessitates aligning the job title with all aspects of their supervisory work.
