Al-Jalal: Expanding Gulf Partnerships to Develop Higher Education
Mai Al-Sukkar – Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jalal emphasized the expansion of Gulf partnerships to develop higher education. This came during his meeting today (Monday) with Dr. Saad bin Saud Al-Fahid, President of the Arab Gulf University in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the accompanying delegation. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohammed Al-Faris, member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Gulf University; Dr. Badr Al-Basiri, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and member of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Gulf University; and Dr. Faisal Al-Adwani, Assistant Undersecretary for Scholarships, Equivalency, and Cultural Relations.
Minister Al-Jalal welcomed the President of the Arab Gulf University and the accompanying delegation, reaffirming the Ministry of Higher Education’s commitment to strengthening cooperative ties with Gulf universities. He noted that such collaboration contributes to developing the higher education and scientific research system, exchanging expertise and successful experiences, and enhancing academic partnerships that benefit students and elevate the quality of educational outcomes.
Al-Jalal pointed out that integration among higher education institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries represents a crucial pillar for building an advanced educational system capable of keeping pace with global changes. He stressed the importance of continued coordination and knowledge exchange to bolster the region’s educational and development trajectory.
For his part, Dr. Saad bin Saud Al-Fahid, President of the Arab Gulf University, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for the warm reception. He praised the fraternal relations uniting Gulf academic institutions, highlighting the university’s achievements and academic programs, including those of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Chair (may God have mercy on him) in the field of microbiology. He affirmed the Arab Gulf University’s aspiration to enhance cooperation with Kuwait’s Ministry of Higher Education to serve mutual interests and support the advancement of higher education in the region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Nader Al-Jalal met with a group of Kuwaiti students studying on scholarships and graduates enrolled at the Arab Gulf University in the Kingdom of Bahrain. He listened to their academic experiences and reviewed their notable scientific achievements, emphasizing the Ministry’s interest in following up on the affairs of its students studying abroad and providing all necessary support to help them achieve excellence and success. This, he noted, contributes to preparing qualified national cadres capable of contributing to the nation’s service and supporting its development process.
